The Phil Hart Legacy
Phil Hart moved an Airstream Trailer into the Enchanted Forest in June, 1993. He had originally planned to see the world in it. However, he decided that the world as seen from The Enchanted Forests vantage points was just about much world as he needed. The trailer has remained on the property and will remain probably forever. It is now an icon and a place for meditation or curiosity fulfillment. It's an eclectic collage of Phil's life and loves.
Phil was an environmentalist and a careful observer of nature. He enjoyed the campfire near the Airstream and other campfires in locations on the property. Native American lore and life was a great part of Phil's philosophy and way of life. Ceremonies were important. Honoring nature was important. Honoring friends was important.
One friend, Doug Browning passed on and left Phil some money. With that inheritance Phil built The Doug Browning Reading Room. Phil never really occupied the room. He did, however, collect many interesting items which are on display as only Phil would display things. The room is now a central meeting place for Rotary's youth groups called Interact and Rotaract.
Phil was the director of FourWay Foundation for many years. This community foundation was spun from a fund of the Rotary Club of Grants Pass, of which Phil was a member and a past president. When Phil passed away he left the bulk of his estate to the FourWay Foundation. Recently, Brenda and the Table Rock Foundation received a grant which allowed the refurbishing of a barn into what is now The Phil Hart Club House. This is used for Leadership camps and training throughout the year. It's dedication was November 18, 2012.
